“Hundred Hearts” by Zambri

Zambri is a sister duo, Jessica and Cristi Jo. The retro feel of their slow jam burns from the first few heavy, distorted synth notes, borrowing the feel of “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin. Their vocals are warm but distant, plainly repeating, “I have a hundred hearts for you.” It’s not pleading and it’s not assuring. For the Zambri sisters, it’s a simple fact, the very nature of love. The synths whirr and swirl and brighten. “You keep throwing them back / I keep giving them up” they repeat, sweetly. As the two sentiments tug at each other it becomes clear - one of the hearts is this song.
